Background

The African & Caribbean Association of Foyle (ACAF) was founded in October 2006. The membership of this community organization comprises different cultures and races. ACAF promotes the welfare of the migrant community of Africans & Caribbean people living in this region of County Derry/ Londonderry of Northern Ireland.The idea of founding the African & Caribbean Association of Foyle (ACAF) dates back to 2002. The actual formation of the organisation came into fruition in August 2006. The official number of membership is 46.

Membership

Members are from many parts of the world; Egypt, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, South Africa, Ireland, Zambia, Italy, Botswana, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria and many more. The organisation was formed with the objective of supporting the African and Caribbean migrant communities in sharing and giving advice appropriately on matters concerning their new home, Northern Ireland.

General Objectives

ACAF is committed to working towards the social, cultural, educational and economic equality of members of the Society and ALL cultures

The society also promotes multicultural integration. A plan of future activities would be drawn up and be made available.
